Full Stack Developer

May 2022 – May 2026

AI-powered safety platform for the mining industry, processing thermal imaging from vehicles to surfacing real-time inference results in a dashboard used by operators on-site.

  • Migrated the entire frontend from Vue 2 to Vue 3 before EOL support, improving performance, design and using the newer Composition API
  • Incrementally adopted TypeScript across the Express API, reducing runtime errors and improving developer confidence
  • Led the backend migration from Express to NestJS, introducing domain driven design and cleaner data modelling with Prisma
  • Provisioned and maintained cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform
  • Added keyboard accessibility features and colorblind support, improving usability for all users

  • Part of the team as the company grew from 100k to over 500k customers, continuously shipping new features and pages to support expanding product lines
  • Led migration of the entire public facing website from WordPress to Vue/Nuxt including CI/CD to enforce code quality
  • Built a new cart and checkout experience integrated with the backend team's APIs to accommodate multiple product types and promotions while improving conversion rates
  • Implemented a Statamic CMS giving the marketing team direct control over website content without developer involvement

Things I've Built

A selection of things I've built, some to solve real problems, some to learn something new.

PaddleOCR FastAPI

A lightweight OCR service that keeps the PaddleOCR engine warm to avoid the heavy per-request startup cost. Designed around a single shared engine with queued inference so health checks stay responsive under load. Preprocessing handles rotated scans and perspective-distorted photos, and the ONNX backend keeps the install footprint small with no GPU dependencies.

Minesweeper

A faithful recreation of classic Minesweeper with chord clicking, long-press flagging for mobile, and difficulty persisted in the URL so games are shareable. Optimized with Immer for structural sharing on board state and React.memo with stable callbacks so only changed cells re-render on each move.
